My name is Izzy Ellenberger, I am taking Digital History because I am interesting in learning about the digitalization of historical events and artifacts as well as the archival process. Additionally, this course fulfills the capstone requirement for the digital studies minor.
What is Digital History?
Digital History is the utilization of digital tools and technologies to preserve, share, and interact with history. Sources such as websites, online archives, and interactive maps help historians study the past as well as it makes it more accessible for the public.
What is Digital Humanities?
Digital Humanities encapsulates a variety of topics within the humanities such as art, history, theatre, literature, and philosophy , in which engages and utilizes digital technologies. It uses multimedia platforms in able to study and share different forms of human culture.
How are they different?
Digital History is strictly speaking on the ways that history itself is being digitalized and becoming accessible in a technological way. Digital Humanities is speaking on more of a broader term encompassing a multitude of topics, including but not just being History.
