This week we were tasked to look at a variety of digital resumes and or E-portfolios. Through the ones I looked I found the following:

  • Sometimes less is better. You don’t want to clutter the page up and make it look too busy. When I saw sites that looked like this I tended to get overwhelmed and skim over the cluttered sections.
  • Themes and aesthetics are really important. If a site didn’t look “pretty” or “clean” I skipped right over them. They didn’t grab my attention from the get go and because of that I didn’t look much at those sites.
  • Good to get straight to the point. Instead of rambling on about me or including more pages than is needed is unnecessary. People want to go onto my site, learn what they need to know, and leave.
  • The pictures that I choose to represent me are important. I found myself being drawn to the pictures that the people provided on their sites. Thriugh their pictures I started to get more of a sense of how they are (nice, goofy, stern, etc.) It’s a good way to put the words on the page to a face. It makes it more personable and I want to be represented well.
  • I’ve always thought about my digital identity, mainly from when I was younger. I got the Musically app, the 2010’s equivalent to TikTok, when I was in middle school. I know that what I posted had to be super cringey and I know it is out in the world somewhere. When Musically went down I lost my account and sign in so I have never been able to recover the account. I fear/look forward to the day where I run into those cringy/goofy videos. Fear because I have no idea what’s there and look forward because I get to look back on my younger self.
